On March 19th the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) launched a contest "LIFE-SAVING INNOVATIONS: STOP COVID-19" and gave  a priority to COVID-19 virus and crisis management projects. Innovators, technology developers, startups and innovative companies are invited to participate and offer solutions based on modern technologies.

Kęstutis Šetkus, ex-director of MITA, appealed to the community of Lithuanian innovators with a request to remain indifferent and offer their innovative ideas for this contest: "We can overcome today's challenges and manage the COVID-19 crisis working shoulder to shoulder. There is no doubt that Lithuanians are brave, enterprising and creative, and our new ideas can make a significant breakthrough".

Prototyping and launching innovative protective equipment, information and communication technologies, development of teleworking, surveillance or forecasting potential COVID-19 hotspots systems based on artificial intelligence and other ideas tackling problems created by the COVID-19 pandemic can be submitted.

MITA ensures business and financial assistance on a priority basis: to implement the best ideas, that meet the criteria, the personal consultant will be provided and the funding from the EU instrument Inostartas up to 52,000 euros each will be allocated. Noteworthy, the intensity of the Inostartas measure for the projects involving the development or improvement of technologies related to COVID-19 was increased, therefore the maximum possible funding for ideas implementing reaches up to 100 %.

Realistic ideas on developing innovative technologies, products, services or processes needed to combat COVID-19 can be submitted for the contest by filling out a simplified form on the MITA website until April 17. The evaluation of innovative ideas as a matter of urgency is carried out by MITA experts within 2 weeks.
