Info Day on the BBI JU initiative in Vilnius

On 11 May 2017, the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) is organizing an Info Day on the BBI JU initiative in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The programme will start with introductory remarks by Ričardas VALANČIAUSKAS, Head of R&D&I Programmes and International Cooperation Division at MITA and by Inga MATIJOŠYTĖ, Member of the BBI JU States Representatives Group.

Following that, Paloma MALLORQUÍN, BBI JU Programme Officer, will present BBI JU initiative, BBI JU Call for proposals 2017, its' evaluation methods and also explain how to prepare a proposal under H2020 programme. This presentation will be followed by a discussion about bio-based industries in Lithuania and a Q&A session.

The afternoon session will include presentations by research organisations and will be moderated by prof. Arūnas RAMANAVIČIUS from Vilnius University.

The participation is free of charge but registration is required. 


The Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) is a new €3.7 billion Public-Private Partnership between the EU (operating under Horizon 2020) and the Bio-based Industries Consortium.

BBI JU Focus:

  • Feedstock: foster a sustainable biomass supply with increased productivity and building new supply chains
  • Biorefineries: optimise efficient processing through R&D and demonstrate their efficiency and economic viability at large-scale demo/flagship biorefineries
  • Markets, products and policies: develop markets for bio-based products and optimise policy frameworks.
