Lithuanian smart specialisation presented in Moldova

Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission organised an event on the concept of smart specialization (S3) in order to kick-start S3 in Moldova.

The event was held in the framework of a pilot project aimed at addressing needs and gaps in R&I by supporting S3 processes in three countries: Ukraine, Moldova and Serbia. In support to EU enlargement and neighbourhood countries, JRC has been carrying out activities which focus on the S3 approach in identifying the strengths, opportunities and needs for building R&I capacities.

Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) was invited to present Lithuanian experience on developing national S3. Ricardas Valanciauskas, Head of MITA R&I Unit, introduced to Lithuanian innovation system, institutional framework, role of MITA in the implementation of S3. Moldova intends to establish a national innovation agency thus participants were curious about MITA activities and initiatives.

The event was organized in Chisinau together with the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
