MITA has joined efforts to promote agro-innovation

2020 05 22

Aiming to promote innovation in agri-food sector in Lithuania, MITA will contribute to the implementation of the Lithuanian Action Plan, developed under a project "Innovation-driven agri-food sectors for a European industrial renaissance" (AgriRenaissance). MITA will cooperate with a number of partners, including National Paying Agency and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics.

MITA will be involved in the implementation of 2 actions included in the Action Plan. Firstly, it will endeavour to increase accessibility of results of implemented projects in agri-food sector. MITA plans to publish such information in the platform “Open R&D Lithuania”. This would help to absorb the knowledge generated by the projects in the future actions of private and public companies, academia, NGO’s and other interested parties.

Secondly, MITA will organize brokerage events for academia and private companies of agri-food sector. The events will present opportunities in various EU and national R&D and innovation programmes. Additional networking sessions will enable to interact and initiate new partnerships between science and business. The events would help to deal with a lack of communication and collaboration between public and private sectors.

Earlier this year, MITA took part in a study visit held by the project in Portugal. The aim of the visit was to familiarise with the agri-food sector development in Portugal, to share experience in the area of related innovations among the project partners and stakeholders.

The overall objective of AgriRenaissance is to improve regional development policies and programmes under the Investment for Growth and Jobs goal in order to increase R&I resources and capacities of the agri-food sector, stimulate collaboration and foster its hybridization.

AgriRenaissance is funded by the INTERREG Europe programme and is implemented by the consortium comprising fiveEuropean regions: Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal.  More information on the project is available on the website
